WHAT THE COALITION WANTED TO TALK ABOUT
* Territorians can send a message to their Labor government that they are disappointed with its performance by voting for the coalition on May 18.
* Veterans will be supported under the coalition government through a new $63 million package.
WHAT LABOR WANTED TO TALK ABOUT:
* Making it easier for 2.6 million casuals to move into ongoing work with proposed laws allowing them to request permanent jobs after 12 months with the same company.
WHAT MADE NEWS:
* In an offhand remark, Mr Shorten told a high income earner that Labor we're "going to look at" tax cuts for people in his wage bracket. He later clarified that he had been upfront with Australians about Labor's plans.
* Inflation didn't grow at all in the latest quarter and was running at 1.3 per cent in the year to March, falling short of economists' expectations.
* The Australian Electoral Commission has declared the candidates for the national poll and drawn the ordering of the ballot.
* An inquiry with the powers of a royal commission will put two controversial taxpayer-funded water buybacks under the blowtorch if Labor wins the federal election.
* Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and Labor's treasury spokesman Chris Bowen will have a head-to-head debate in Canberra on May 6.
