Home-grown talent shines at Macarthur Triathlon Club titles

Rachel Eagles can claim to be Macarthur's best female triathlete.

Eagles, of Camden, secured victory in the open women's category at the recent ABC Bikes Macarthur Triathlon Championship in Macquarie Fields.

Eagles dominated the 500-metre swim, 20-kilometre bike ride and 4km run to win from runner-up Aleesha Austin, also of Camden.

Harrington Park teen Cody Salter led the charge to win the open men's category from his training partner, Thomas O'Callaghan.

The annual championships was organised by the Macarthur Triathlon Club.

Club publicity officer Thomas Warren said the event was a major success and attracted lots of young talent.

"We had 70 competitors and at least 40 [participants] were under the age of 18," he said.

"Our youngest competitor was six years old while our oldest was in their late 60s.

"It was a really good day out. The championship is our biggest race of the year."
