It's fair to say that Denham Hawkins will never forget his eighth birthday.

Denham and his family have organised a Beyblade tournament to celebrate the special occasion on Sunday.

Beyblades are a popular line of spinning top toys which kids battle against each other.

Denham's mum Melissa Hawkins said Beyblades were extremely popular with her son's age group.

"Beyblades are still a massive thing in school playgrounds," she said.

"Denham absolutely loves Beyblades."

The Camden South resident said the tournament was being held to show Denham the value of giving on his birthday, rather than receiving presents.

"We want to teach him that it's not about getting presents, it's about having an experience and wanting people to come along," Ms Hawkins said.

Macarthur kids are invited to come along and battle at Denham's Fundraising Ripper Tournament on Sunday at Camden Sports Club from 11am to 1pm.

The tournament is aimed at children aged five to 12 years, and there will be prizes and giveaways on the day.

Entry is $12 per person. Funds raised will go to Kids Helpline and beyondblue.
