The finalist process of the Wollondilly Local Business Awards ensures that the most deserving business people take their seats at the gala presentation evening.
Finalists are selected based on the number of online and printed nominations they receive in their specific category, with the most popular businesses being selected.
The public nominated their favourite local businesses in a selected category by: visiting the Local Business Awards website; submitting coupons provided in one of their local media partners; or submitting coupons located at their favorite business' premises.
Finalist businesses were notified of their selection by the Local Business Awards and received a finalist pack that included an invitation to the presentation evening, a certificate, the judging criteria and general information about the awards.

Once finalists were selected they were judged by two-stage process: information provided by the business and an anonymous visit by a judge.
Consideration is also given to: business history and marketing; staff training; business and environmental sustainability; successes during the past 12 months; support of the community; and plans for the future.
Judging criteria also included aspects such as whether the business was identified with clear signage, whether the premises were clean and well maintained, whether staff were appropriately dressed and whether the customer was acknowledged on entering, a spokesman for the awards said.
