Jessica Wallis was shocked and surprised to win the Youth Award at this year's Wollondilly Local Business Awards presentation night.
An educator at Little Elves Childcare Centre in Bargo, Ms Wallis said she laughed when her boss said she had better have her speech ready in case she won.
"I thought there is no way at all I am going to win," Ms Wallis said. "I don't do anything special, I just do my job.
"To have the whole team and a lot of other people in the room cheering for me made me excited but even more nervous."
She said although the nomination was her first for the Youth Award the Little Elves Childcare Centre had won Most Outstanding Childcare Service in 2017 and 2018 and took out the Business of the Year award last year.
"I believe I won the award for my commitment to my studies and my hard work and because the families that attend our centre told my employer how much they love me as an educator," Ms Wallis said.
"I still feel I am no better than anyone else but I do try my best every day. Even if I am tired or not feeling well, I always but 100 per cent into my work.
"Also, I love sustainability and at each staff meeting I'm always coming up with ideas for the whole team."

Ms Wallis said the awards night was particularly special because all 14 educators from Little Elves were there.
"It was nice to experience such an award in front of my work mates," she said.
"Our whole team enjoyed the evening and were excited that Picton Preschool won the most outstanding childcare service because they have a lovely centre."
She said she especially wanted to thank the families that attended Little Elves, as well as her fellow educators and her supervisors, Miss Jen and Miss Lynda.
"I would also like to thank my mentor Miss Amie. I have worked directly with Miss Lynda and Miss Amie since starting at Little Elves in 2017 as a school leaver.
"I am also grateful to the sponsors and Precedent Productions for providing me with such an opportunity.
"I would like to add that childcare is a great career and I highly recommend it for anyone leaving school.
"I started at Little Elves straight after I left year 12, studied a certificate 3 and was encouraged to study for my diploma."
