Food, fun and plenty more in store at Camden Festival

Get ready locals - Camden is just a few weeks away from kicking into party mode.

The annual Camden festival has plenty of family fun, delicious food and incredible entertainment will be on the menu this year.

The event, now in it's 18th year, promises to be the biggest and most exciting festival to date with celebrity chef demonstrations and new events added to an already jam-packed program.

Camden mayor Theresa Fedeli said there was something for all residents to enjoy throughout the festival.

"September is always the most exciting time of year with Camden Festival becoming a tradition of celebrating the people, places and produce of our beautiful area," Cr Fedeli said.

"Each event has its own flavour that appeals to the different ages and interests of people from across the community.

"This year we have included the brand-new event called Backyard Bash which will be reminiscent of backyard birthday parties and summer holidays.

"I invite every member of our community to come out and enjoy each of our special events and celebrate what makes Camden the special area it is."

The festival kicks-off with a number of events on Sunday, September 8 including Picnic in the Park at Macarthur Park, Camden.

The picturesque and historic park wil be the setting of the spring picnic event with live acoustic entertainment, delicious treats from a variety of food stalls and fun for the kids throughout the day.

Cinema Under the Stars will feature a free movie screening of Disney's Incredibles 2 on Saturday, September 14 at The Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan.

This free, family fun event will kick off with pre-show activities for children.

People are encouraged to cosy up in their blankets, sleeping bags or chairs and enjoy the movie.

The Kids Fun Day will be held on Wednesday, September 18 between 10am -2pm at the Narellan Sports Hub this year.

The toddler wonderland will be complete with special performances by Peppa Pig, as well as roving entertainment, a visit from Batman in his Batmobile, plenty of activities and a free barbecue lunch.

Camden's young people will be able to enjoy the screening of The Fast and Furious presents: Hobbs & Shaw for just $5 at the Youth Movie Night on Thursday, September 19 at United Cinemas Narellan.

The newly-added Backyard Bash is set to be a whole lot of fun, perfect for kids, youths and adults alike.

Kicking-off in the late afternoon at Town Park in Oran Park on Saturday, September 21 the event will be reminiscent of backyard birthday parties and summer holidays.

Camden Festival will finish off with the popular TASTE Camden on Sunday, September 29.

The event will include the best food, wine and music the area has to offer.

'Fast Ed' Halmagyi, one of Australia's top TV chefs and food authors, will lead this year's celebrity cooking demonstration.
