James Tedesco will return to Elderslie this October - and he's bringing some rugby league stars with him.
Kirkham Park's Harvey Shephard Oval will host an international Test match between Italy and Malta on October 12.
The Italy outfit is set to feature Sydney Roosters fullback and former Elderslie resident, Tedesco.
Other Italy stars may include Newcastle Knights forward Aidan Guerra and former Canberra Raiders player Terry Campese.
The Malta squad could include Gold Coast Titans forward Sam Stone and former Penrith Panthers player Jarrod Sammut.
Camden Rams club president Greg Copeland said it was a boon for his club to host an international contest.
"We've been working for some time to get our facilities at the right level to host more elite games in Camden," he said.
"There has been a lot of work done by Camden Council [at Kirkham Park]. Hopefully it's a sign of more things to come."
Mr Copeland said works at the ground had included upgrading the field surface and scoreboard.
He said plans were in place for more change rooms and a new small grandstand at the field.
"The international match will be a chance for people to see our facility and what the Camden area has got to offer," Mr Copeland said.
"We're very proud of what we've got."
Mr Copeland said he would be excited to see Tedesco return to Elderslie for the game.
"James Tedesco has been awesome over the last four or so years," he said.
"He has given back to the club's juniors and seniors. James is still very much an integral part of Camden."
Malta Rugby League president Jean Pierre Zarb said in a statement that he expected an exciting encounter.
"The Italians will no doubt have a lot of support there on the day as they have that connection with a local hometown hero," he said.
"But our Maltese [population] are also well represented in the area. We expect most of our big name players to put their hand up for this one."
The Italy versus Malta game will kick off at Kirkham Park's Harvey Shephard Oval on Saturday, October 12.
