The Wollondilly community is set to create history.

A group of Picton residents have jumped in early and registered Australia's first "street sale" as part of this year's Garage Sale Trail.

The Friesian Way "frenzy" street sale in Picton will be part of the nationwide community and sustainability event on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20.

Wollondilly mayor Matthew Deeth said council was proud to support the Garage Sale Trail.

"Garage Sale Trail presents a fun and social way for council to encourage reuse and help educate people about the impact we can all make when we buy second hand," he said.

"It is a great way to meet your neighbours and connect with the broader community while also decluttering and raising money for yourself or charity.

"I hope many more Wollondilly residents, schools, community groups and businesses sign up."

Last year, an average of $309 was sold at Garage Sale Trial household sales.

Registrations are free. The first 1250 sellers who register before September 10 will receive a free seller pack with posters, price tags and more.
