A fresh face with a familiar last name has signed on to play with the Wests Tigers next season.
Billy Walters, son of league legend and Queensland Origin coach Kevin Walters, signed a two-year deal with the orange, black and white and will start pre-season training next month.
The 25-year-old versatile playmaker made his first-grade debut for the Melbourne Storm against St George Illawarra Dragons in Round 16 this year.
He also came off the bench against the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Round 21.
Walters is a capable hooker or halves player, and joins Wests Tigers after an impressive season with the Easts Tigers in the Intrust Super Cup competition.
Wests Tigers head coach Michael Maguire said he was looking forward to seeing Walters take the next steps forward in his career.
"I'm pleased to have someone with Billy's professionalism and talent join our club," he said.
"He has the ability to control a game really well."
