Jay Seeney has been a fixture in the country music scene for a few years now but it's his work behind the camera that has got the critics talking.

Mr Seeney has scored two nominations in the Video of the Year category at the 2019 CMA Golden Guitar Awards for his directorial skills.

The talented musician and cameraman was nominated for his work on Backroad Nation by Lee Kernaghan and Hey Brother by The Wolfe Brothers.

"It's a very exciting moment for all of us at Blacklist Productions," Mr Seeney said.

"We are in a category surrounded by people in the industry that we admire and to have that recognition alongside them is amazing."

This is the first time Mr Seeney has been nominated for a Golden Guitar.

He said working behind the camera had opened up new doors for him.

"As a musician it has really helped to visually collaborate with fantastic artists who are at the top of their game," Mr Seeney said.

"I started just working on my craft and posting content online and before I knew it I was working with Golden Guitar winners and nominees like The Wolfe Brothers, Luke O'Shea and Lee Kernaghan."

Mr Seeney said the inspiration for Backroad Nation came from people living off the beaten track.

"We filmed it in a small town outside of Cobar to really capture the spirit of the backroad," he said.

"It's a whole different lifestyle out there compared to city life."

Mr Seeney said the message behind Hey Brother was timely and important.

"We started the video with a quote by the director of the Australian War Memorial Brendan Nelson," he said.

"It says, 'Help is hope, we're Aussies and we're here to give it'.

"We wanted the a song to send a message to veterans and their families that help is out there."

Mr Seeney said he wasn't too nervous about heading to the awards.

"I am more excited than anything else," he said.

"I am looking forward to catching up with everyone and enjoying the night."

Mr Seeney's advice to budding music video directors is simple.

"Keep working - put up as much content as you can and start making connections with people."
