Wollondilly will significantly change over the next 20 years and we can expect to see an extra 15,000 new homes in Wilton alone.
With this comes the need for better infrastructure and public transport, employment opportunities, education and access to local health services.
We have the opportunity to plan for local health care services as our community grows. We want Wollondilly to be a healthy community that has suitable health services that can adapt to the growing population, including a hospital and more aged care facilities.
Our governments need to work together to get this right so our future generations won't have to deal with the consequences of poor planning and lack of services.
We want the future Wollondilly to be a healthy community that has quicker and easier access to quality health services without having to travel outside of the Shire.
We are acutely aware that Council's planning and actions shape the future of the Shire and influence factors such as improved access to health care services and programs.
The health needs of our community will continue to evolve as the Shire grows. This will require increased services, better access and a wider variety of health care providers. We recognise that these need to be in place early.
Our commitment to the community is to continue to make health and wellbeing a priority in sustainable growth planning as well as strongly advocate to other levels of government for the needs of the region.
