A group of Queenslanders will cozy up in a trial run for the AFL grand final as the state considers relaxing restrictions this week.
With just one new coronavirus case, a young teen in hotel quarantine, Queensland's active cases have fallen to 17.
The figures come as about 200 AFL fans have volunteered to act as guinea pigs and sit in close quarters during the Collingwood-Port Adelaide game at the Gabba on Monday night.
"Tonight, stadiums have agreed to trial increasing the density for a small number of people a the Gabba stadium," chief health officer Jeannette Young said.
Currently, stadiums are at 50 per cent but the plan is to increase capacity to 75 per cent, or 30,000 people, for the grand final on October 24.
"To suddenly go and increase from 50 per cent to 75 per cent without trialling all those processes doesn't make sense," Dr Young said.
She was not concerned about the risk of infection as outdoor areas were "much, much safer" than indoor venues.
But Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington accused the state government of putting the interests of AFL players over the health of ordinary Queenslanders.
"It is staggering double standards when people can't have more than 10 people in their home but (Premier) Annastacia Palaszczuk wants to trial jamming people into a footy stadium," she said.
The Sunshine State is also preparing to welcome ACT travellers on Friday and double its intake of international arrivals by the end of October.
It will lift its quota from 500 to 1000 by October 24, with the government calling for expressions of interest from Brisbane and Cairns hotels to take returnees.
It comes as the Sunshine State hit 10 days without community transmission, meaning a decision could be made on Thursday to lift restrictions on the state's southeast.
Health Minister Steven Miles confirmed Queenslanders were nearing the 14-day milestone of no local infections.
"Thursday would be 14 days after the last case thought to be infectious in the community. So that's an appropriate review point," he told reporters.
Aged care residents are not allowed visitors and there's a 10-person limit on home gatherings in eight local government areas, including Brisbane.
Restrictions were lifted on the Darling Downs and Gold Coast last week.
Active cases are clustered in Queensland's southeast, with 11 cases in West Moreton and the remaining six at Ipswich.
However, the health minister is concerned not enough people are getting checked for the virus with just 2708 tests conducted overnight.
That's "well below the level we'd like to be testing at", Mr Miles said.
"Please do go and get tested, especially if you're in the Ipswich region or the southern suburbs of Brisbane"
Meanwhile, Queensland police issued eight infringement notices at the weekend, including to a karaoke bar and a Brisbane pub, with both venues previously warned about not making patrons register and enforcing social distancing.
Since August 8, officers have met 2792 inbound flights and checked 122,507 passengers, refusing entry to 2207 people, Deputy Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said.
Police have also checked 155,921 vehicles at the border and turned around 6127 people.
There are 3938 people currently isolating in hotel quarantine.
