Wollondilly's popular canine community event Dilly Doggy Day Out will not being going ahead this year.

However, the Dilly Doggy Day In will be.

Keeping in line with Covid-19 restrictions and health advice, the council is transforming the outdoor fun day into a week of online activities.

The virtual event will run from October 18-24.

Wollondilly Council will provide locals with hints and tips for pet owners, information about pet products and services, demonstrations and competitions - all online.

Special guest Dr Katrina Warren - beloved television presenter and vet - will join the council online throughout the week for demonstrations with her Wonderdogs (border collies).

Wollondilly mayor Robert Khan said he was thrilled the special day would still go ahead in a modified form.

"This is always a very popular event with pet owners," he said.

"I am so pleased that we can still hold this popular event, even if it is a little different this year.

"Make sure you follow Wollondilly Council's Facebook page to see all of the exciting online activities that we will be doing."

Competitions will be hosted on the council's website, along with information about free microchipping for dog and cat owners in the shire.
