Campbelltown man charged in relation to stabbings

A man faced court yesterday following an investigation into two separate stabbings in the Macarthur region in 2019 and 2020.

Police say they were notified after a man presented to the Campbelltown Hospital with stab wounds to his hand, chest and ear on Monday, March 4 2019.

He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were told he was injured after being robbed and attacked with a machete at a home on Lochinver Place, St Andrews the day before (Sunday, March 3 2019).

Emergency services were also called to a home on Julian Way, Claymore on Monday, August 31 2020, and found a man suffering stab wounds to his chest and hands.

The man allegedly told police he was injured after being robbed in the street of two mobile phones and a watch.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics in a stable condition.

Campbelltown City Police Area Command established separate strike forces to investigate the incidents.

Strike Force Gibbergunyah and Strike Force Havannah detectives arrested a 32-year-old man at Campbelltown Police Station at 1pm on Wednesday, February 24 2021 following extensive investigations.

Police say he was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, cause wounding to person with intent to murder, aggravated robbery with wounding cause grievous bodily harm, two counts of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and specially aggravated enter dwelling with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.

Following further inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home on Hilder Way, Claymore at 9.30am yesterday (February 25).

Police say four mobile phones were seized, along with an electronic stun device.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Campbelltown Local Court yesterday, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday, April 7 2021.
