Driver charged over Picton Road crash

A man has been charged after two people were seriously injured in a crash at Picton yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Picton Road and Wilton Park Road after a Ford Falcon XR6 and a Harley Davidson motorcycle collided at 12.45pm on Sunday, February 28.

Camden Police Area Command and Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) officers attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police say witnesses told them the sedan was being driven west along Picton Road when it turned right into Wilton Park Road, allegedly in front of the motorcycle.

The rider, a 56-year-old man, and his pillion passenger, a 47-year-old woman, suffered multiple injuries after being thrown from the bike.

They were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

Police say the provisional driver, a 19-year-old man, was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for mandatory testing before being arrested and taken to Narellan Police Station.

Officers say he has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and not display P-plates.

He has been refused bail to appear at Picton Local Court today (Monday, March 1 2021).
