The generosity of the Macarthur community was on show on Friday for Mother Hubbard's Cupboard's charity auction.

The op-shop - which supports local women and families escaping domestic violence, people experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable locals - held the auction in collaboration with Network 10 program The Living Room, to be featured on a future episode.

Hosts Barry Du Bois, Dr Chris Brown and Miguel Maestre headed into Camden for the event, with the former working with Mother Hubbard co-founder Brian Stewart to restore a hall stand, which sold for $660.

Fellow co-founder Val Stewart said the auction went "really well" and had an "exciting buzz".

"We had probably about 100 people there," she said.

"It was lovely to watch the host naturally mucking around with everyone and it will be great to see it on film.

"People were very generous."

Some of the items up for auction included a grandfather clock, art deco set of drawers, diamond and ruby necklace, several wedding dresses, fur coats, a marionette doll, a spinning wheel and earrings hand-made by The Living Room host Amanda Keller (who wasn't able to make it to the auction).

Amanda's presence was still felt, however, with her co-hosts writing her name across a novelty size champagne flute - which then sold for $220.

Mrs Stewart said the auction took about an hour, and is expected to air on The Living Room on May 21.

She said she was so grateful for the community for supporting Mother Hubbard's Cupboard, from the donors to the bidders and everyone in between.

"The LJ Hooker guys that came along were having a lot of fun, and the fruit barn man allowed us to park at his place and donated a box of fruit which sold for $150," Mrs Stewart said.

"He also brought bottles of water for everyone. We're just so pleased the community is with us, and we felt it fully on Friday."

Ms Stewart said viewers could expect a really fun show when the auction goes to air - including some shenanigans with Miguel, Dr Chris and a yoga mat.

The Living Room airs on Network 10.
