Call for volunteers at The Oaks Vinnies store

The Oaks Vinnies needs volunteers

Do you have a passion for the community and some free time on your hands?

Vinnies needs you!

The charity organisation's The Oaks store is in need of new volunteers who are keen to give back to hte community.

The Glendiver Road shop temporarily closed last year as the Covid-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on businesses across the country, and the world.

But now it's back, with Covid-safe measures in place, and ready to welcome some new blood.

Vinnies NSW Retail Area Manager Christian Catabui said volunteering with Vinnies was a great way to help out in the shire.

"We have a lovely group of volunteers who have been able to make a positive impact in the local community," he said.

"For a lot of us, the events of the past year have highlighted the importance of community and looking out for people in need.

"Working in a Vinnies shop is a great chance to meet excellent people and you get the satisfaction that the sales are used to support people who fall on hard times."

There are currently 237 Vinnies retail stores throughout the state, offering a range of pre-loved items for purchase.

Sales fund support services offering food, clothing, financial aid, crisis accommodation and other assistance for people in vulnerable situations.

Vinnies volunteers have a number of roles at stores, including customer service, sorting donations and maintaining the day-to-day running of the store.

The call for volunteers at The Oaks comes after the nearby Tahmoor store was forced to close last year, as a result of the pandemic.

There are other Vinnies stores in Picton, Camden and Campbelltown.
