ADF personnel help Macarthur charity to distribute support hampers

Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel deployed in Campbelltown to support the region's police officers have been helping to distribute support hampers for those in need.

The ADF members were tasked with supporting Campbelltown City Police Area Command officers after the Campbelltown LGA was included under revised Public Health Orders last month.

Campbelltown City Police Area Command took to Facebook to raise awareness about what ADF members have been up to in the community.

"Police and ADF have previously worked closely together in NSW in bushfire and flood community responses and the current COVID pandemic has brought this joint assistance capability to our area," the post stated.

"Campbelltown City Police and ADF will continue to support the community over this period.

"Assistance was provided to Mal Fruean and her team at the South West Multicultural and Community Centre in Minto on Tuesday in preparing and distributing hampers to elder members of the community who don't have ready access to services owing to public health restrictions."

The Facebook post stated that officers and ADF personnel would continue to assist Ms Fruean and her team in this important work.

"Campbelltown City Police and ADF have also been out and about at Campbelltown city's Vaccination Centres and COVID Testing sites," the post continued.

"They have also been engaging with those in the community required under the public health orders to self-isolate making sure they understand what is expected of them and making sure they have support and assistance.

"Our best way to meet the current Delta Strain of COVID in the Campbelltown area is to work together on stopping the spread.

"We can all play our part by staying home unless it is essential or special reasons under the orders allow you to."

Campbelltown police have also urged residents to always wear a mask unless undergoing strenuous exercise and to get tested if you develop any flu like symptoms.
