The Macarthur FC Bulls have announced their captain for the 2021-22 season.

Following the retirement of inaugural captain Mark Milligan at the end of last season, experienced goalkeeper Adam Federici will this year wear the captain's armband.

The 36-year-old from the South Coast it was an honour to be named captain of the Bulls and he relished the added responsibility.

"It is very special to be given an opportunity like this," Federici said.

"Working alongside Milligan last year, I know the dedication and expectation required for the role, but I am privileged to follow in his steps and be the best captain I can be."

The six-foot-two leader played more than 280 games in the English Premier League and Championship League before joining the Bulls in the A-League last year.

Coach Ante Milicic said he was thrilled to welcome Federici to the captain's role.

"Adam is a natural leader and we saw this last year when he was captain for a few games," he said.

"We have seen what he has achieved internationally and in the past season in the A-League. His experience and knowledge of what is required to be successful will be the driven standard amongst the playing group.

"He is someone who strives for team excellence every day and has the respect and trust of the entire football club to be a brilliant captain."

Macarthur FC made it within one win of the grand final this year in their debut A-League season, and hope to go one better in the 2021-22 season.
