Shire residents can enjoy a bit of festive spirit this Christmas with the return of a popular yuletide event.

Wollondilly Council's Christmas in the Gardens is back for its third iteration this year. Held at the Picton Botanic Gardens on Friday, December 10, the event will feature popular twilight markets, an outdoor movie, a visit from Santa and a range of other family activities.

The fun starts at 3pm, and there will be food and market stalls, face painting and Christmas Carols for all in the community to enjoy.

The jolly man in red himself, Santa Claus, will be arriving to take photos with the youngsters from 5pm, and instant prints will be available to purchase for $5.

The council will reveal the winner of the annual Wollondilly Christmas Lights Competition at 7.30pm in a special presentation.

Things take a cartoony turn at 8.30pm, when the free outdoor movie Space Jam: A New Legacy screens. To stay in-line with COVID restrictions, anyone attending the movie must make a booking online.
