A $45,000 trip to Western Australia for five Queensland opposition MPs and their wives was an acceptable use of taxpayer's money, state Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington insists.
Gold Coast MPs John-Paul Langbroek and Ray Stevens, Toowoomba North's Trevor Watts, Gympie's Tony Perrett and Lockyer's Ian Rickuss all spent up to five nights in Albany.
The reason given was to attend a Liberal National party conference, however it's understood the conference only ran for one day.
Ms Frecklington said the expenses claim was allowed under the parliamentary guidelines.
"It was a National Party conference which reviews ideas, it was attended by politicians from all over the country," Ms Frecklington said on Monday
"It was within the rules."
The opposition leader said that view was not at odds with the multiple occasions this year the opposition has attacked government MPs for travel spending claims, mostly on official trade missions.
Last month the LNP took Labor Speaker Curtis Pitt to task for a trade mission to the US, which cost $31,000.
In August the opposition slammed as "out-of-touch" the premier's accommodation bill for the Gold Coast Commonwealth games which amounted to more than $39,000 for the premier and 12 staffers to stay on the Coast during the Games.
