Ben Simmons has been snubbed as an All-Star starter with fans, NBA players and media members in agreement he is not one of the Eastern Conference's top two guards.
Fans rated the Australian-born Philadelphia 76ers' star as only the eighth best guard in the East, players ranked him fourth and the media third.
The NBA announced on Thursday the Atlanta Hawks' Trae Young and Boston Celtics' Kemba Walker topped the combined fan-player-media vote and will be the starting guards from the East for the February 16 All-Star game in Chicago.
Kyrie Irving (Brooklyn Nets) was third in the combined vote, Derrick Rose (Detroit Pistons) fourth and Kyle Lowry (Toronto Raptors) fifth.
Simmons was in equal sixth with Zach LaVine (Chicago Bulls).
The Australian is still expected to earn the second All-Star selection of his career with NBA coaches next week naming the game's reserves.
Simmons made his All-Star debut last year as a reserve.
Overall, the Milwaukee Bucks' forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was the East's top vote-getter.
The two other East frontcourt starters are the Toronto Raptors' Pascal Siakam and 76ers' Joel Embiid.
Los Angeles Lakers' leader LeBron James was the Western Conference top vote-getter.
James and Antetokounmpo were named captains and will select their teams, choosing from either conference, in a draft style selection event.
The West's starting frontcourt is James, Anthony Davis (Lakers) and Kawhi Leonard (LA Clippers) and the guards are Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks) and James Harden (Houston Rockets).
